Our Intensive Programs are customized to meet the needs of each child.  This may include a combination of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy.  Treatment varies in time, duration, intensity, and tools used. Typically our program will be 3-4 weeks in duration, 5 days per week.

The Intensive Model of Treatment is best known for it’s incredible benefits and outstanding results.  Many children gain more progress towards their goals in one intensive therapy session than they do in a whole 12 months of ongoing traditional therapy.  Research shows that consistent and persistent work toward goals is the most productive toward building strength and endurance.  This is not to say working at home on a daily program is not also effective.  However, working with a therapist daily on a thorough exercise program is a very effective means of reaching goals.  Intensive therapy is not for every child, but our team will help decide if this would be beneficial for your child.  Once an intensive session is complete, it is advised that the child follow care team recommendations to work at a continued traditional therapy frequency with home activity plans.  Further recommendations for future intensive sessions will also be made at that time.  The current recommendation for Intensive therapy is to complete 3-4 per calendar year, based on muscle strength and growth.  Weeks 3 and 4 have also been shown to be most beneficial in a care plan.

Intensive Therapy is available for the following:
Physical Therapy Intensive
Occupational Therapy Intensive
Combined Therapies Intensive (OT/PT/Speech)
Constraint Induced Movement Therapy

Physical Therapy Intensive

Our Physical Therapy intensive is 2-3 hours of therapy per day for 3-4 weeks, based on patient goals and assessment.  Other therapies can also be combined in this plan.  Our physical therapists use a combination of techniques including Dynamic Movement Intervention, Litegait mobility,  Whole Body Vibration, Therasuit and Spidercage therapy (Coming January 2023) and developmental positioning and play.

Occupational Therapy  Intensive

Our Occupational Therapy intensive is 2-3 hours of therapy per day for 3-4 weeks, based on patient goals and assessment.  This program is beneficial for sensory integration treatment methods that we use consistently in our clinic.  Our Occupational Therapists use a combination of floor time play, sensory integration techniques, fine motor developmental play, and the Integrated Listening System to promote development.

If your child has recently been diagnosed with a developmental condition, this is a great opportunity to establish care, develop goals, and learn about how to be consistent at home with programming.

Other therapies can also be combined in this plan including Speech, Physical Therapy, and Feeding.

Combined Therapy Intensive

Are you interested in your child receiving a variety of therapies?  We have an amazing team that works closely together to design therapy plans.  If you would like your child to have a combined plan, please indicate that on your registration form and we will fulfill your request based on therapy availability.
